Mission Beach
Part of the Great Green Way, Mission Beach is relatively undiscovered and has been described as "The Hidden Jewel of Far North Queensland". Mission Beach is 145 km south of Cairns and 240 km north of Townsville. Dunk Island is only 4 km across the water. Mission Beach comprises of four villages known as Bingil Bay to the north, North Mission, Wongaling Beach and South Mission. A Tropical Escape B&B is located in Wongaling Beach.
The area's main appeal is its three pristine environments;
- Beach - 14 kilometres of uncrowded palm fringed beach
- Enveloped by World Heritage Rainforest with Walking Trails
- The wonders of the Great Barrier Reef lay only a short boat trip across the blue warm waters of the Coral Sea
Mission Beach is much more than nature at its best, it's also about getting you out to experience it all. The area has the highest concentration of tours and activities for its population than any other holiday township in Queensland.
Mission Beach is certainly not commercialised which is one of its attractions. You can do as much or as little as possible, it depends on what type of holiday you require. Located in the "Wet Tropics" of Far North Queensland, please be aware of the "wet season" December to March. The temperature does not usually get above 30 degrees but the level of humidity increases. April through to November is perhaps the best time to visit but visitors do manage to enjoy themselves at all other times.
You may encounter Cassowary Birds which are well know in the area. You will notice when driving into Mission Beach that there are road signs, please keep an eye out for these magnificent birds. These birds are a very large flightless bird native to the rainforests in the area.

Close to Shopping Village and Restaurants
The Local shopping village is only a short 10 minute stroll and includes Woolworths, butcher, chemist, newsagency, video hire, cafe, internet facilities, gift shop, hairdresser and clothing boutiques. In Wongaling Beach we have a doctors surgery, dentist, library, police station, ambulance and fire brigade.
Four minute walk to Blarneys, a restaurant voted in the top 25 restaurants in Queensland as well as the Mission Beach Resort which has a buffet meal plus TAB, pokies and bottle shop, plus other restaurants nearby.
